New Features Include UTCHEM Simulator Support, Quick RFT Grid Plot, Periodic Production Rates, and Binned Integration
BELLEVUE, Washington—September 11, 2014—Tecplot®, Inc. has just released an update of Tecplot® RS™, the company’s reservoir simulation visualization and analysis tool for oil and gas reservoir modeling. Tecplot RS 2014 R1 has expanded data loaders, a new grid interrogation method, calculations for periodic production rates, and a new capability to numerically integrate a grid property and distribute the results based on another property.
New Features in Tecplot RS 2014 R1
- Support for UTCHEM Simulator. Tecplot RS 2014 R1 reads native UTCHEM (chemical flood reservoir simulator developed at the University of Texas at Austin ) files for the reservoir grid properties, and makes available full capabilities for creating XY PLOTS, and 2D and 3D grid plots.
- Fast Grid Interrogation. The Quick RFT plot provides a very fast quantitative method for exploring the grid and understanding how the grid properties vary with depth.
- Periodic Production Rates. Calculates average weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual production rates for selected wells and other entities. A table, which can be exported to a CSV file, includes the periodic rates, the average daily rate during each period, and the average daily rate based only on the days each well was producing during each period.
- Binned Integration. This new capability allows the integrated grid solution to be subdivided (binned) based on a selected grid variable or parameter, such as the time step. A reservoir engineer could use this capability to calculate the oil depletion over time for, example.

Pricing starts at $6,600 in the U.S. for a single-user perpetual license. Tecplot RS users with current Software Maintenance Service subscriptions can upgrade to Tecplot RS 2014 Release 1 at no additional cost. Special pricing is available for qualified academic users upon request.
